Two Children Drown in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Johar; One Survives
Karachi: A tragic incident unfolded in Block 9 of Gulistan-e-Johar, near Magsi Chowk, where two children drowned in a water-filled pit, authorities reported. Rescue teams rushed to the site shortly after the alert and launched a search operation to recover the victims.
Police said the pit had been dug for a building’s foundation but was left uncovered. Recent rains had filled it with water, creating a hazardous situation. Three children had gone to the makeshift pond to swim when the accident occurred. While one child managed to escape, two others tragically lost their lives.
The deceased children were between 10 and 12 years old, police added. Investigations are ongoing.
Earlier Tragedy at Hawks Bay
This incident comes shortly after another drowning tragedy near Hawks Bay on Manora Road, where three young men lost their lives while swimming, reported. Edhi Foundation rescue divers managed to save one individual, identified as Hasnain, while the body of another, Bilal, was recovered. The search continues for the third, Shahab.
The victims of the Hawks Bay incident were reportedly residents of Nazimabad, a posh area in Karachi.
Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution near water bodies, especially in areas affected by recent rains.
