8 foods that should not be combined with eggs
Eggs are a nutritious food source, good for health, and easily accessible, making them a favourite among many people. However, there are some combinations of eggs with other foods that not only fail to provide a pleasant experience but are also very bad for health for many reasons. According to news outlets NDTA and The Times of India, some foods avoid eating eggs.
Citrus fruits
It is best to not use citrus foods with eggs, like oranges, and grapefruits, as the acidity in these fruits causes the eggs to curdle when cooked together. Eating eggs with citrus foods like oranges and grapefruits is not recommended.
Red Wine
Red wine and eggs are not a harmonious combination and are also bad for health. The tannins in red wine can conflict with the flavour of eggs, which results in an unpleasant taste sensation.
Sugary cereal
Having eggs for breakfast is a healthy option, but combining them with sugary cereals may not be the healthiest choice. It’s better to have whole-grain cereal or low-sugar cereal if you are eating eggs for breakfast.
Alcohol
Because there is a higher chance of foodborne disease due to the possibility of Salmonella contamination in raw eggs, steer clear of alcoholic beverages like eggnog that contain raw eggs.
Soy Milk
Eggs and soy milk both have high amounts of protein. Combining the two can lead to a protein spike in the body, causing an excess of protein, which results in digestive issues.
Pickled foods
The bold and aromatic flavours of pickled or fermented foods can reduce the delicate taste of eggs. Moreover, the spiciness of these foods can easily overpower the flavour of eggs.
Tea
Try to avoid tea and egg combinations because the presence of tannins in tea can inhibit the absorption of nutrients from the eggs. Furthermore, this combination may result in gas and acidity.
Bananas
If you are the one who likes to eat bananas and tea together, it is time to pause and reconsider. This food combination can cause bloating and may take longer to digest. Therefore, try to avoid this combination and enjoy it separately as part of a healthy diet.
