Heathrow Evacuated Over Hazard Alert
Heathrow Airport Evacuated Amid Possible Hazardous Materials Incident
LONDON — Heathrow Airport, the UK’s busiest international airport, has advised passengers not to travel to the terminal after a potential hazardous materials incident.
The London Fire Brigade confirmed that firefighters were on the scene responding to the situation. “Specialist crews have been deployed to assess the scene, and part of the airport has been evacuated as a precaution while firefighters respond,” the brigade said in a statement reported by the BBC.
The disruption has also affected rail services. The UK’s National Rail network announced on X that trains were “unable to call” at Heathrow’s terminal, located southwest of London.
Heathrow Airport reassured travelers that “all other terminals are operating as normal.”
Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for updates before heading to the airport.
