Heavy Rain Hits KP & Northern Districts
Heavy Rain Warning Issued for Northern and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Districts
Authorities have issued a weather alert as heavy rainfall is expected to affect several districts, including Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Buner, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, and Mardan. The Pakistan Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) warned that the downpours could trigger strong water flows in streams, urban flooding, and landslides in hilly areas.
The PDMA also cautioned that weak infrastructure—such as electric poles, billboards, and solar panels—may be at risk due to strong winds and storms.
In response, district administrations have been directed to take preventive measures, keep drainage channels clear, and ensure emergency services are fully prepared.
The public has been urged to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from rivers and nullahs, and follow instructions from local authorities. In case of emergencies, citizens can contact PDMA’s 24/7 toll-free helpline at 1700.
