Cillian Murphy is “in the running” for the next James Bond
According to reports, Cillian Murphy will be the next actor to play the renowned covert agent.
The Bond franchise, which is searching for the next James Bond, has apparently taken an interest in the Peaky Blinder, who was last portrayed by Daniel Craig, according to The Sun.
Murphy’s portrayal in Oppenheimer has earned him an Oscar nomination in the Best Actor category. During award season, he also took home other honors, including Golden Globes, BAFTA, and Sag Awards.
An insider told The Sun, “Cillian is the talk of Hollywood right now, and this would be the ultimate role.” “With an actor at the top of his game, this is a way to elevate the Bond franchise.”
The story claims that Barbara Broccoli, a producer for Bond, has been closely monitoring Murphy over the previous 12 months. Additionally, he has the support of Clay Bunker, who played the opposite Irish actor in Oppenheimer, to be the future James Bond.
Bunker answered, “He would fare beautifully.” It’s amusing because, despite being the kindest person in the world, Cillian has a dark side, just like Bond has. We tend to forget that Bond is occasionally a really grim figure, much like the one Fleming envisaged.
It is anticipated that production on writer Ian Fleming’s 26th James Bond film won’t begin until at least later in the following year.
