Hollywood Stars Join Pledge to Boycott Israeli Institutions Amid Gaza Crisis

Paramount Pictures has become the first major studio to publicly respond to a recent pledge by film industry figures, condemning the initiative.

The pledge comes amid growing calls for boycotts and protests against organizations with ties to the Israeli government, as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza deepens. Images of starving Palestinians, including children, have sparked widespread international outrage.

Organizers of the pledge clarified that they are not urging anyone to stop working with Israeli individuals. Instead, they are calling on film workers to avoid collaborating with Israeli institutions “complicit in Israel’s human rights abuses.” The statement accused Israeli film institutions of engaging in “whitewashing or justifying” the treatment of Palestinians, drawing a parallel to similar pledges made by entertainers against apartheid-era South Africa.

Signatories of the pledge include high-profile actors such as Olivia Colman, Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, Tilda Swinton, Riz Ahmed, Javier Bardem, and Cynthia Nixon.
