CTD Foils Terror Plot in Hyderabad, Arrests Three SRA Militants

Hyderabad: In a swift intelligence-based operation, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) successfully thwarted a planned terrorist attack on a railway track in Qasimabad, Hyderabad, arresting three suspects linked to the banned Sindh Revolutionary Army (SRA).

The arrested militants were identified as Aamir Latif Chang, Shoaib Chang, and Shaban Chang. During the operation, authorities recovered two hand grenades, explosives, detonators, ball bearings, along with nuts, bolts, wires, remote controls, and illegal weapons from their possession.

Investigations suggest that the group had previously targeted cargo trailers en route to Punjab. Aamir Latif Chang has emerged as the prime suspect in a railway track bombing case and carries a Rs2 million bounty.

CTD officials stated that the suspects had planned the attack under the directives of Noor Chandio, aiming to strike on August 14, but heightened security measures prevented the plot from materializing.

“The SRA network is being orchestrated by Noor Chandio,” a CTD spokesperson said, adding that special teams have been formed to carry out further arrests.

Earlier this year, the CTD had also arrested a suspected SRA militant, Sajjad Shar alias Bablu, near Karachi’s Ghaghar Phatak area. Shar was allegedly planning to plant a bomb on a railway track in Bohar village, Hyderabad.

Authorities continue to maintain vigilance to prevent further attacks and dismantle militant networks operating in the region.
