ICC Workshop in Maldives Coaching Revamp with Riaz and Anwar
The ICC will hold a two-day High-Performance workshop in Maldives on 29-30 July. Former Test cricketer Wahab Riaz and former international cricketer Shahid Anwar (head coach National Cricket Academy) will participate in the workshop,” the PCB said in a statement.
According to the statement, the workshop is aimed at providing information on the latest coaching techniques along with ways to identify and develop talent from the grassroots level.
Additionally, General Manager Academies Dr. Imran Abbas will also feature in a four-day ICC Level-2 Tutors training course scheduled in Malé from July 24.
The workshop is also part of ICC’s training and education program to equip the member countries with quality Level 2 tutors who will then train coaches.
ICC assigned former Pakistan cricketer Iqbal Sikander and former Bangladesh Test captain Amin-ul-Islam to conduct the course.
T20 World Cup
It is worth noting that in the aftermath of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup debacle, the PCB sacked Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz from the selection committee on July 10.
Wahab was also removed from his position as senior team manager, while team manager Mansoor Rana lost his job.
Following his removal, Wahab took to social media and issued a statement, expressing his gratitude for serving as a part of the selection committee while highlighting that he has a lot to say but does not want to be a part of “blame games”.
“There is a lot I can say but I don’t want to be part of the blame games,” wrote Wahab in the caption of his social media post, featuring his statement.
“My time serving as a member of the selection committee for PCB comes to an end, I just want my people to know that I have served the game I love with faith and sincerity and have given 100 percent for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.
“It has been an honor to serve as part of the selection panel. To make collaborative decisions as part of the seven-man panel to select the national team was a privilege – everyone’s vote carried equal weight, we made selection decisions as a team & shared the responsibility of that process equally
