Rhea Ripley: Why is ‘Mami’ the most formidable wrestler?
After packing her things into the SUV, Rhea Ripley sat down to watch the boxing match in preparation for her travel later that day.
She had recently worked the crowd into a frenzy at the WrestleMania XL kick-off, a free fan event where Big E and CM Punk provided commentary while WWE capitalized on Super Bowl week with its biggest talents, according to ESPN. Earlier in the day, she had met Becky Lynch in person at T-Mobile Arena.
That’s beside the point, though, as Ripley plays the heel in this pair. Fans screamed “Ma-mi” at her nonstop as she walked around the platform, her muscular physique and exuberant demeanor creating an intimidating image.
Participating in Judgement Day, working with Dominik Mysterio, and creating the “Mami” persona were all factors in Ripley’s WWE career ascent to stardom.
Furthermore, Ripley was given a pop similar to that of WWE Hall of Famer Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Roman Reigns, and Cody Rhodes, proving that her notoriety extends beyond her title as the women’s World champion.
In squash matches against men, the 27-year-old Ripley has prevailed, as seen in her victory over Akira Tozawa on “Raw.” She is not only a prominent participant in high-profile matches but also one of the faces of WWE, leading one of the largest organizations in the wrestling industry.
The sardonic expression on her face when she applies her signature technique, Riptide, to an opponent, or the terrifying smirk she displays when she submits them with a head scissors move.
Whether working with boys or girls, Ripley’s work is noteworthy. And it has remained that way ever since she moved from Australia’s independent circuit to join NXT in 2017.
