Judges Named to Special Courts Nationwide
Serving and Retired Judges Appointed to Special Courts, Tribunals Across Pakistan
ISLAMABAD — The Ministry of Law and Justice has appointed several serving and retired District and Sessions Judges to key positions in special courts and tribunals, according to an official letter issued by the Member Inspection Team-I.
Among the serving judges, Jehangir Ahmed Dayo has been posted to Banking Court No. 7 in Karachi, while Rehmatullah Morrow will serve at the Banking Court in Larkana. Noushaba Qazi has been assigned to Banking Court No. 3 in Karachi, and Amina Nazir Ansari to Special Anti-Corruption Court No. 2. Suraiya Mahboob will head the Anti-Encroachment Tribunal in Karachi, Shazia Asif has been appointed to Labour Court No. 2, and Zafarullah Solangi to the Special Anti-Encroachment Court in Hyderabad.
For the retired judges, Javed Iqbal will serve at Labour Court No. 7 in Larkana, Mohammad Saad Qureshi at Customs and Anti-Smuggling Court No. 1, and Mohammad Mushtaq Leghari at Customs and Anti-Smuggling Court No. 2. Javed Ahmed Kario has been appointed to Banking Court No. 1, Shahid Pervez Memon to a Banking Court in Karachi, and Syed Naseeruddin Shah to Banking Court No. 2 in Karachi.
These appointments aim to strengthen the capacity of banking, labour, anti-corruption, anti-encroachment, and customs courts, ensuring faster resolution of specialised cases.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has ruled that the transfer of Islamabad High Court judges is not unconstitutional. The verdict, announced by a five-member Constitutional Bench headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, was passed in a 3-2 majority decision.
The court returned the matter of judges’ seniority to President Asif Ali Zardari for further review. Justices Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Shahid Bilal, and Salahuddin Panhwar supported the majority opinion, while Justices Naeem Afghan and Shakeel Ahmad dissented.
