Two Brothers Electrocuted in Karachi; KE CEO, Officials Booked
Karachi – A tragic incident in Shah Faisal Colony claimed the lives of two brothers after they were electrocuted by an exposed underground high-tension cable during heavy rainfall.
According to a First Information Report (FIR) filed by resident Sultan at the Shah Faisal Colony Police Station, K-Electric CEO Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi and officials of IBC Shah Faisal have been named in connection with the case under sections relating to negligence and criminal liability. The report was submitted to the Judicial Magistrate East at Karachi’s City Court.
The FIR states that 10-year-old Siraj went out to buy groceries amidst the downpour when he came into contact with the exposed cable. His 20-year-old brother, Murad, attempted to save him but was also electrocuted.
Neighbors and residents managed to pull both brothers out, but Siraj died instantly. Murad later succumbed to his injuries, as heavy rain, waterlogging, and traffic congestion delayed his transfer to the hospital.
The incident has sparked outrage among residents, highlighting long-standing concerns over Karachi’s infrastructure and safety measures during the monsoon season.
