Karachi’s Coldest Night Snow Fog Hit Pakistan

Karachi experienced its coldest night of the year on December 28, 2024, with the temperature dropping to a chilly 6.5°C, according to the Meteorological Department. The cold wave has affected many parts of the country, bringing freezing temperatures to various regions.

In the northern areas, Skardu faced extremely cold weather with the temperature plunging to -13°C. Similarly, Gops recorded -9°C, while Gilgit and Astore reported -8°C. Northern Balochistan also felt the chill, with Quetta experiencing a low of -3°C.

In addition to the cold, light rain and snowfall are expected in areas such as Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This has added to the winter weather’s intensity, especially in these regions.

Heavy fog is causing visibility issues in several areas, leading to the closure of multiple sections of the motorway for traffic. Authorities are advising travelers to exercise caution and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience.

This winter season is turning out to be colder than usual, with temperatures dropping significantly across Pakistan, affecting daily life in many areas.
