Karachi Tremors 57 Quakes
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that Karachi has experienced 57 small earthquakes since June 1, 2025.
These earthquakes were weak, measuring between 1.5 and 3.8 on the Richter scale. They happened because the Landhi Fault Line became active.
Experts from PMD explained that this many small quakes are normal and just a way for the Earth to release pressure. Most of the quakes happened close to the surface, up to 70 km deep.
They said that these tremors are due to natural movements of the Earth’s plates under the region.
Karachi Hit by 57 Small Earthquakes Since June 1, Says PMD
Karachi is located near the meeting point of two tectonic plates – the Indian and Eurasian plates. These plates can build up pressure and cause small earthquakes.
Experts said these quakes are normal for such areas and do not mean that a big earthquake is coming.
They added that the way people feel the tremors can also depend on local conditions, like soft soil, land changes, and how much underground water is used.
So far, scientists say there is no danger of a major earthquake based on the current data.
Mild tremors may still happen from time to time, which is normal in such regions.
PMD is keeping a close watch and checking all data regularly to spot any unusual activity.
They advised people not to panic, saying these small quakes are normal and not something to fear.
