Low-Pressure System Near Karachi, Rain and Rough Seas Forecast in Sindh
Karachi – A low-pressure area has formed about 310 km southeast of Karachi, over the northeast Arabian Sea, near the Saurashtra coast of Gujarat, India, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported on Wednesday.
The system is expected to move westwards and could intensify into a depression within the next 12 hours, initially heading in a west to southwest direction.
Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall is expected today across several districts of Sindh, including Tharparkar, Umerkot, Sanghar, Mirpur Khas, Badin, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Thatta, Sujawal, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, as well as the Karachi Division.
The Met Office warned that sea conditions are likely to remain rough to very rough, with squally winds reaching 45–55 km/h. Sindh’s fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the deep sea until October 3.
The PMD’s Cyclone Warning Center in Karachi is closely monitoring the system and will provide updates as the situation develops.
