Karachi Mother Confesses to Killing Children Amid Custody Dispute
Karachi police are investigating a shocking case in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Khayaban-e-Mujahid, where a mother, Adeeba, has confessed to killing her two young children.
Investigators revealed that before the tragedy, WhatsApp messages between Adeeba and her ex-husband, Ghufran, showed her coordinating Independence Day preparations. She asked if her son Zarar had a shalwar kameez and whether her daughter Samia’s clothes were ready. She also reminded Ghufran to buy flags and dress the children. Ghufran responded “okay” to all requests and even shared pictures of the children prepared for the celebration. Hours later, both children were fatally attacked by their mother.
In one chilling message, Adeeba wrote to Ghufran: “Now you must be happy with what has happened because of you.”
According to Karachi police, audio and visual evidence have been collected as part of the initial investigation.
During police interrogation, Adeeba admitted to taking her children into the washroom and attacking them with a sharp-edged weapon. She reportedly told investigators, “I took them to a place where they will no longer suffer.” She also mentioned that her son had often expressed a wish to go “where there would be no pain.”
The victims, Zarar, 7, and Samia, 4, used to visit their mother once or twice a week following a custody arrangement after Adeeba’s divorce in September 2024. At the time of the incident, they were staying with her.
After committing the act, Adeeba informed her ex-husband and family members before contacting the police. When authorities arrived, she was found at the scene with the children’s bodies. A formal case is expected to be registered against her as the investigation continues.
