KARACHI — A heartbreaking incident has left the city in shock after a mother allegedly killed her two young children, authorities confirmed. Investigators say Adeeba, the mother, told police that her children often stayed with her and that her son had expressed a wish to go to a place “where there would be no pain.”
According to police, Adeeba admitted to taking her children, 7-year-old Zarar and 4-year-old Samia, into a washroom and fatally attacking them with a sharp-edged weapon. She reportedly told officers, “I took them to a place where they will no longer suffer.”
The children were visiting their mother one or two times a week following her divorce in September 2024 and were staying with her at the time of the tragedy. After the attack, Adeeba contacted her ex-husband and other family members before alerting Karachi police.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they found the mother with the bodies of her children. Officials indicate that Adeeba may be suffering from psychological issues, and the investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the case. A formal case is expected to be registered against her shortly.
This tragedy comes shortly after a similar incident in Nawabshah, where a mother, identified as Komal Sheikh, brutally killed her two children by slitting their throats. Sheikh was taken into custody, and during initial questioning, she confessed to the killings but refused to provide a motive.
Authorities are urging families to be vigilant and seek help if any signs of mental distress or domestic tension arise, in hopes of preventing such heartbreaking events in the future.
