Karachi Robbery Turned Fatal: Man Killed, Toddler Injured in Orangi Town

KARACHI – A citizen was shot dead while a two-and-a-half-year-old child sustained injuries during a robbery in Karachi’s Orangi Town, police confirmed on Friday.

The victim, identified as Jibran, was gunned down allegedly by a suspect also named Jibran during the incident. The suspect has since been arrested and reportedly confessed to the killing during police interrogation. Authorities added that the suspect admitted to involvement in multiple other crimes across the city.

According to police, the injured child’s father identified the suspect, Parvez, as the attacker, further strengthening the case against him.

This tragedy adds to a growing list of fatal robberies in Karachi. So far in 2025, at least 46 citizens have been killed while resisting robberies—a grim indicator of the city’s deteriorating law and order situation.

Citizen Resists Robbery in Gulistan-e-Johar

In a separate incident, a citizen narrowly escaped a robbery attempt in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Johar, Block II, when armed men followed him after withdrawing cash from a bank.

A dramatic video of the encounter shows the citizen refusing to hand over the money and firing back at the masked robbers using his pistol. The armed assailants returned fire before fleeing the scene, leaving behind no reported injuries.

Despite the intense exchange, police confirmed the citizen has yet to file a formal complaint regarding the incident.

The rising tide of street crimes and daylight robbery attempts has stirred fear among Karachi residents, as calls for stronger law enforcement measures continue to grow.
