Karachi Students Summoned by Anti-Corruption Office in Midnight Raid, Parents Alarmed

Karachi – Parents have expressed outrage after students, including female candidates, were reportedly summoned to the Anti-Corruption Establishment’s (ACE) West office in the middle of the night. According to sources, notices were sent through the students’ respective educational institutions, but the timing—around 12:30 am—has sparked serious concerns.

“How can we send our daughters to the Anti-Corruption office at such an hour?” parents questioned, voicing their frustration over the unusual summons.

The inquiry, which began a year and a half ago, revolves around alleged alterations in the 2022 intermediate examination results. Despite the prolonged investigation, ACE has yet to establish charges against key officials. Earlier, cases were registered against two former chairmen and two examination controllers of BISE Karachi, but no substantial evidence has emerged.

Now, students from Karachi—many of whom have already cleared MDCAT and NED entrance exams and are enrolled in graduate programs—are being directly questioned for the first time.

Earlier this year, in January 2025, the Chairman of the Karachi Intermediate Education Board set up an inquiry committee to address student concerns regarding the results. Reports indicate that Syed Sharaf Ali Shah, the newly appointed interim Chairman of the Board, assumed office just a day prior and held a meeting with the Secretary of the Universities and Boards Department. They decided to form a committee tasked with reviewing the results and ensuring transparency.

The committee was given one month to conduct its investigation and resolve complaints. The Board Chairman stressed that students are the future, assuring that every step would be taken to address their concerns.

Parents and students are encouraged to submit grievances and suggestions to the Inter Board, as the committee works to resolve the issues impartially.
