Karachi Faces Water Shortage Due to 9-Hour Power Shutdown
9-Hour Power Shutdown Causes Water Shortage in Karachi
Karachi – K-Electric has announced a 9-hour power shutdown for maintenance work. Due to this, power supply to many feeders at the Dhabeji Pumping Station was partly suspended.
Because of this, the city is expected to face a shortage of 85 million gallons of water. This may affect water supply in many major areas of Karachi, including Landhi, Korangi, Shah Faisal, Bin Qasim, DHA, and North Nazimabad, said the spokesperson.
The Karachi Water Corporation has asked people to use water carefully during this time. They also said that the water supply will return to normal once K-Electric finishes its work at the Dhabeji facility.
Earlier, K-Electric restored power at the Pipri Water Pumping Station as planned. The company said the maintenance work was done after informing the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB) to keep water pumping systems running smoothly.
A spokesperson from K-Electric said that scheduled maintenance is necessary to keep the city’s power system stable and reliable. Their technical teams also worked closely with the Water Board to avoid long power cuts.
Recently, a major fault at Dhabeji caused a 100-million-gallon water shortage due to a power breakdown.
