Five Soldiers Martyred in Kech Blast, Five Militants Killed in Clearance Operation
Kech – Five Pakistan Army personnel embraced martyrdom after an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted their convoy during a routine movement in the Sherbandi area of Kech district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed on Monday.
The martyred soldiers were identified as Captain Waqar Ahmed, Naik Ismatullah, Lance Naik Junaid Ahmed, Lance Naik Khan Muhammad, and Sepoy Muhammad Zahoor.
Following the attack, security forces launched a clearance operation in the area, engaging the assailants and killing five terrorists involved in the incident, ISPR stated. The military reaffirmed its resolve that such acts of terrorism would not deter Pakistan’s commitment to eliminating militancy from Balochistan and across the country.
Meanwhile, in earlier operations on September 13 and 14, Pakistani security forces killed 31 militants in two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts.
According to ISPR, the first operation in Lakki Marwat led to an intense exchange of fire in which 14 militants were killed. In a similar IBO in Bannu, 17 more militants were neutralized.
Sanitization operations are underway in both areas to ensure the elimination of any remaining threats, the ISPR added, reiterating Pakistan’s determination to root out terrorism.
