Khawar Maneka’s argument against Imran and Bushra’s marriage is deemed admissible by the court
The illegal marriage lawsuit involving former prime minister Imran Khan and former first lady Bushra Bibi is eligible for hearing, a district and session court in Islamabad ruled on Monday.
Khawar Maneka, the petitioner and Bushra’s ex-husband, showed up in court today. Maneka’s attorney stated that he had told his client about the infidelity. According to Civil Judge Qudratullah, Maneka’s statement is in evidence and makes no reference of the aforementioned act.
The judge also mentioned that in these kinds of instances, two witnesses are needed in addition to the complainant, and she enquired as to whether there was any supporting medical evidence.
In response, the attorney stated that if Maneka is included, then two witnesses are present and a medical report is not necessary. But the judge ruled that Maneka could not be both the case’s complainant and witness.
Then he pleaded for the court to give Imran and Bushra notice of the matter. Following the conclusion of Maneka’s attorney’s arguments, the judge ruled that the matter could be heard and sent notices to the respondents.
On December 14, the court summoned both Imran and Bushra by means of notices issued under Section 496-B.
Maneka had also provided a testimony to Islamabad East Senior Civil Judge Qudratullah under Section 200 (examination of the complainant) of the Code of Criminal Procedure. In a recent TV interview, Maneka accused the PTI president of wrecking his marital life.
He restated his complaints against the pair and the things he had said in the interview in the statement.
He complained, claiming that Imran and Bushra were wed on January 1, 2018, and included a copy of the purported nikkah documents.
“Neither legal nor Islamic as it was solemnized without observing [the] iddat period and both of them established illicit relations with each other,” Maneka said of their nikkah
