Days after news broke that Kristin Cabot is seeking a divorce from Andrew Cabot following the infamous Coldplay kiss-cam incident with former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, Andrew has revealed that the couple had actually parted ways weeks before the public scandal unfolded.
In a statement to a foreign publication, Cabot’s representative confirmed that the separation had been “private and amicable” long before the July 16 concert at Gillette Stadium in Boston, Massachusetts.
“Their decision to divorce was already underway before that evening,” the statement read. “Now that the divorce filing is public, Andrew hopes this provides respectful closure to speculation and allows his family the privacy they’ve always valued.” The couple has no children together.
The controversy erupted when Kristin Cabot and Andy Byron, both married to other partners at the time, were caught in a brief, intimate embrace on the stadium’s kiss-cam during Coldplay’s performance. Byron quickly ducked behind a barrier, while a visibly embarrassed Cabot covered her face with her hands.
Once the video circulated online, social media users quickly identified the pair. Astronomer, the New York-based tech company where both worked, later confirmed their identities.
Following the scandal, both Byron and Cabot resigned from their positions at the Astronomer. Kristin Cabot officially filed for divorce in Portsmouth on August 13.
