Elon Musk Hits $500 Billion Net Worth
Elon Musk Becomes World’s First $500 Billion Man — Briefly
Elon Musk, the billionaire behind Tesla and SpaceX, has become the first person in history to briefly cross the $500 billion net worth mark, according to Forbes’ Real-Time Billionaires tracker.
The 54-year-old’s wealth touched $500.1 billion on Wednesday before slipping slightly to $499.1 billion, fueled largely by a rebound in Tesla’s stock after a turbulent period in politics and steady gains in his other ventures.
Musk comfortably sits ahead of other tech giants on the wealth chart. Oracle founder Larry Ellison follows with $350.7 billion, while Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg holds third place with $245.8 billion.
Musk’s journey to becoming the world’s richest man has been anything but ordinary. After studying at the University of Pennsylvania and briefly enrolling at Stanford, he made his first fortune in 1999 when Compaq acquired his online publishing software company for over $300 million.
He went on to co-found what later became PayPal before launching SpaceX in 2002, and two years later, he took the helm of Tesla — a move that would cement his reputation as one of the most influential entrepreneurs of the century.
