Building Collapse in Lyari Leaves 3 Dead Dozens Trapped

A six-floor building collapsed in the Baghdadi area of Lyari, trapping many people under the debris.

Rescue teams quickly arrived after hearing the news. So far, they have saved five people — including three women — and taken them to the hospital.

According to Chhipa Welfare, three people have died, and around 20 to 25 are still stuck under the rubble.

Rescue workers say that a nearby building was also damaged because of the collapse.

Search and rescue efforts are still going on.

Earlier Incident in Kharadar:

Just four days ago, another six-floor building in Karachi’s Kharadar area partly collapsed. The roof of a corridor between parts of the building fell.

Luckily, no one died in that incident. The collapse happened because a rooftop water tank broke and fell, damaging the stairs and corridor.

People living on the third, fourth, and fifth floors got stuck. Rescue workers used special equipment like cranes and snorkels to bring them down safely.

Officials later said that the building’s structure became weak because of the heavy tank and the damage it caused.
