Mayweather vs Tyson Legendary Exhibition Fight Confirmed

Mayweather and Tyson Set for Blockbuster Exhibition Bout

Boxing icons Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson are set to step back into the ring for an exhibition fight that promises to be one of the sport’s biggest spectacles, according to ESPN. The event is being organized by CSI Sports/Fight Sports, though the date, location, and broadcast details have yet to be finalized.

Mayweather, 48, retired in 2017 after defeating UFC star Conor McGregor in a high-profile crossover bout. Since then, the undefeated champion (50-0, 27 KOs) has taken part in eight exhibition fights, the most recent against John Gotti III in August 2024. Confident as ever, Mayweather said in a press release, “I’ve been doing this for 30 years, and there hasn’t been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy. If I do something, it’s going to be big and legendary.”

Tyson, 58, made his return to the ring in November 2024 in a much-anticipated clash with Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Although he lost by unanimous decision, the fight drew an astonishing 65 million concurrent viewers on Netflix, proving the enduring star power of the former heavyweight champion.

Speaking about his upcoming showdown with Mayweather, Tyson admitted he was surprised the matchup became a reality. “When CSI came to me about stepping in the ring with Floyd Mayweather, I thought, ‘No way this happens.’ But Floyd said yes. This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen. Boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable — and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets,” Tyson said.

While Tyson warned that the fight could be “detrimental” to Mayweather’s health, he acknowledged that fans will be treated to something extraordinary.

Further details, including the number of rounds and weight class, are expected to be announced soon.
