Mohammad Nawaz Named Replacement for Noman Ali in Crucial Test Series Against Australia: Selection Committee Decision and Team Management Updates
Mohammad Nawaz has been approved by the national selection committee, which is led by Wahab Riaz, to replace Noman Ali for the current Test series against Australia. Noman, a left-arm spinner, was afflicted with acute appendicitis, which prevented him from playing in the three Test match series. Today he was the patient of surgery.
The first flight that becomes available will take 29-year-old left-arm spinner Nawaz to Australia. Nawaz is currently a member of the 17-person T20I team that will play New Zealand starting on January 12 in New Zealand.
It is truly regrettable that Noman Ali would not be available for the Test matches, stated Wahab Riaz, chief selector for the men’s cricket squad. Owing to practical difficulties, such as obtaining a visa for any new player, and the necessity for a left-arm spinner, Nawaz was the team’s best option.
The management of the team is optimistic that Abrar Ahmed will be available for the squad for the third Test match, which will take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground on January 3, 2024.
