“Chronicles of Umro Ayyar” brings culture from Pakistan to Cannes
With its historic debut on the international scene, the 77th Cannes Film Festival has grown to be a significant occasion for the Pakistani film industry. The Chronicles of Umro Ayyar, the first-ever 3D animated feature film from Pakistan to be screened online at the esteemed Marché du Film, is being screened there.

The movie, which was produced by Ingenuity Productions in Karachi, is characterized on IMDb as an adventure fantasy that drew inspiration from the epic story of Tilism-e-Hoshruba. It tells the exciting tale of Umro Ayyar, the fabled trickster hero, as he travels through time and fantastical worlds.

The CEO of Ingenuity Productions, Haris Basharat, stated, “We’re confident that the film’s stunning visuals and story will captivate audiences worldwide.” The production company is also working on Science Voyagers, a 3D animated series that follows an inquisitive youngster on time-traveling adventures to meet notable figures in science history, in addition to Umro Ayyar.
Two 2D animated series, Yolki and Hatch, which are centered around childhood development, and Aria and the Magic Jungle, which emphasize environmental awareness, are also part of the company’s repertoire. The Chronicles of Umro Ayyar and other projects are part of the Cannes program, which highlights the creativity and talent in Pakistani cinema and signals the beginning of a new phase of international exposure and opportunity.
