NEPRA Cuts Power Tariff by Rs1.88 for Aug Oct 2025
NEPRA Approves Rs1.88 Per Unit Relief in Power Tariffs for Aug–Oct 2025
ISLAMABAD – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a reduction of Rs1.88 per unit in electricity tariffs under the Quarterly Tariff Adjustment (QTA) for the period from August to October 2025.
According to a NEPRA spokesperson, the relief will apply to all distribution companies (DISCOs) as well as K-Electric consumers, following the same adjustment mechanism nationwide. However, Lifeline and prepaid consumers will remain exempt from the change.
K-Electric clarified that no DISCO has the authority to independently revise electricity tariffs. These rates are set by NEPRA in coordination with the federal government. The reduction will take effect only after the government issues an official notification.
The approved adjustment will translate into a total relief of Rs 55.87 billion for consumers during the three months. Officials attribute the move to reduced capacity charges and higher industrial electricity sales, partly due to the integration of captive power consumers into the national grid.
Once formally notified, the adjustment will apply to all consumer categories of both XWDISCOs and K-Electric.
