Newcastle Face Uncertainty Over Isak as Transfer Deadline Looms

Newcastle United’s summer remains clouded by uncertainty as Swedish international Alexander Isak has yet to play a single game for the Magpies this season, having missed the entire pre-season campaign.

With just four days left before the transfer window slams shut, both Newcastle and interested clubs are pushing hard to resolve what has become one of the summer’s most talked-about transfer sagas.

In Isak’s absence, Eddie Howe’s side have had a mixed start to the Premier League season, drawing one and losing one of their opening two matches. Despite going down to 10 men in Monday’s clash with Liverpool, Newcastle staged a spirited fightback and came close to snatching a point.

Captain Bruno Guimaraes, who impressed in that game against Liverpool, admitted the team is struggling with the ongoing transfer uncertainty.

“I haven’t had any contact with him. We’ve been training in the mornings, and he trains at a different time, when no one from the team is around,” Guimaraes told ESPN.
“As captain, and for us as players, it’s a tough situation because we want to have the best players with us. But that’s something we can’t control – the club, the management, the owners are dealing with it, and I hope it gets sorted out in the best way.”

The Brazilian midfielder also stressed how much the 25-year-old striker, who scored over 20 goals last season, is missed on the pitch.

“We hope to have our best player back, but unfortunately, this is a situation that neither I nor any other player can control,” he said.

Newcastle will now turn their attention to Saturday evening’s match against Leeds United, their final game before the summer transfer window closes on Monday.
