Balochstan’s fifth female deputy commissioner is Fareeda Tareen
Following the appointment of Fareeda Tareen as deputy commissioner (DC) in Balochistan, four additional female high-ranking government personnel also entered the administrative field.
Fareeda, a Grade 18 officer, was promoted to the rank of deputy commissioner in the Sohbatpur district after serving as assistant commissioner (AC) Dasht tehsil in the Kharan district of Balochistan.
As the province’s sixth deputy commissioner, she breaks down barriers within the male-dominated society and establishes a standard for efficiently carrying out administrative responsibilities in the face of a low-key insurgency and a turbulent political environment.
High-ranking government officers on duty, such as Awaran DC Ayesha Zehri, Hub DC Rohana Gul Kakar from the Balochistan Civil Service, Naseerabad DC Sadaf Batool Assadi, and Lasbela DC Humaira Baloch, who oversaw the administrative units in various regions of the province, were appointed after her.
Fareeda faced challenging circumstances whilst holding various government jobs during her tenure as a federal servant. From February 11 to March 16, 2021, she experienced four consecutive moves to separate positions in a span of 36 days, as reported by Geo News.
On February 11, the bureaucrat was first assigned to the position of Assistant Commissioner Quetta.
Her appointment was canceled the very following day, and on February 16 she was sent to the administration department as Section Officer Three.
In the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), she was assigned as Section Officer One on February 25. Finally, on March 16, she was named Section Officer of Commerce and Industries.
Liaquat Shahwani, the then-spokesperson for the Balochistan administration, rejected the idea that women officers were the target of prejudice when Geo News contacted him about this in 2021.
While praising Farida Tareen’s skills, the spokesman stated that transfers were a necessary component of the work. In answer to the questions, the spokeswoman had said, “Fareeda Tareen is a smart, intelligent, and hardworking bureaucrat.”
