Following another fire outbreak on Margalla Hills, the PM takes note
On Tuesday, a new forest fire broke out on Margalla Hills. Firefighters are working to put it out before it gets any bigger.
To extinguish the fire, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the fire department arrived quickly.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (MPO), Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was made aware of the Margalla Hills fire. To contain the fire and protect people and property, he gave the appropriate authorities orders to move swiftly into action.
The fire started on Saidpur Range Trail 3 and moved toward Noor Pur Range Trail 5, according to the CDA. It further stated that efforts were being made to put out the fire.
While work was still being done at the other site, the fire on path 3 was put out.
According to the CDA, extra teams were sent in to speed up the firefighting effort, which included around 65 firemen. The operation is personally overseen by DG Environment, who reports to Chairman CDA Mohammad Ali Randhawa.
The CDA said that high temperatures and strong winds are making it more difficult to put out fires.
Yesterday, the premier learned of three distinct fires that broke out throughout the Margalla highlands.
Helicopters from the military also assisted in putting out the fires. The intense heat contributed to the unexpected epidemic, quickly spreading to three other areas.
The fire did not go out entirely after hours of coordinated effort.
The prime minister praised the departments’ prompt action and hard work in putting out the Margalla Hills fire. He thanked the Pakistan Army, the Islamabad government, and the NDMA for their “tireless efforts” in extinguishing the fire.
The premier also gave the pertinent authorities instructions to evaluate the harm done to the forest and implement repair efforts.
The Margalla Hills cover 12,605 hectares and have numerous annual summertime fire outbreaks.
A similar fire broke out in Margalla Hills on May 18. About 150 Ministry of Climate Change employees and the CDA worked to extinguish the fire.
