After the unexpected resurfacing of the assault tape featuring Sean “Diddy” Combs, Cassie Ventura speaks out
For the first time since a gruesome video of her then-boyfriend, musician Sean “Diddy” Combs, physically abusing her in a Los Angeles hotel in 2016 went viral, Cassie Ventura has come out.
She posted on Instagram on Thursday, saying, “The outpouring of love has created a place for my younger self to settle and feel safe now, but this is only the beginning.”
Ventura went on, “The issue is domestic violence.” I never imagined being the person I became when it broke me down. I’ve worked very hard to get to where I am now, but I will never truly be over my past.
Cassie praised individuals who had shown concern for the issue and urged everyone to believe victims when they come forward for the first time.
In addition, Ventura encouraged anyone going through a similar experience to reach out and share the load rather than bearing it alone.
Days after CNN was able to get hold of the tape showing him grabbing, pushing, dragging, and kicking Ventura, Sean “Diddy” Combs issued an apology.
“My actions in that video are unacceptable. Combs posted on Instagram, “I accept full responsibility for my actions. I’ve sought professional assistance, and I’m dedicated to being a better man.
Ventura’s attorney retorted, emphasizing that Combs only apologized after being shown to be incorrect and that his apology was more about him than the people he injured.
Due to the statute of limitations, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office was unable to pursue legal action despite finding the footage to be “extremely disturbing”.
