Imran and Qureshi get production orders from the court
In a case involving vandalism during the 2022 Azadi March, a judge on Friday issued production warrants for Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the senior party leader, and Imran Khan, the founding chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
A sessions court heard the matter with PTI attorneys Sardar Mohammad Masroof and Naeem Haider Panjotha present. Judge Mureed Abbas presiding over the proceedings
At the Karachi Company police station, a complaint was filed against Qureshi, the former premier, and other parties.
They postponed the hearing until April 20.
In two cases akin to this one, an Islamabad court magistrate cleared the founding chairman of the PTI earlier this week.
Regarding charges of arson and vandalism in the federal capital the previous day, the Islamabad police on May 27, 2022, filed separate complaints against 150 individuals, including Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Turkistan (PTI) and a former prime minister, along with other party officials.
The challans had video from both private TV news stations and the Safe City cameras as proof. At least 39 individuals were apprehended following their identification from the video.
After being removed from office as prime minister by a vote of no confidence, Imran marched toward Islamabad in an attempt to overthrow the coalition government that had taken control.
The PTI held the gathering as part of its campaign to free the country from the “slavery” of the coalition government that the US had “backed” and to bring about “real freedom.”
