Neom: Saudi Arabia contacts Jordan to investigate cooperative projects close to megacities

Lately, Saudi Arabia and Jordan have held talks to investigate possible prospects in the northern area of the massive project Neom from the Jordanian perspective.

According to a Pan-Arab newspaper, Asharq Al Awsat, the Jordanian side of the border has ports and existing infrastructure that could be easily used for projects that benefit both countries and support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the wider region.

The $500 billion Neom project, introduced by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in 2017, is drawing more Saudi-Jordanian investments to start new ventures and expand current businesses in Aqaba, according to Khalid Wazani, Chairman of Jordan’s Investment Commission.

Aqaba Port and Marsa Zayed are located on the Jordanian side of Neom, and they are anticipated to act as centers for knowledge sharing and consultations, assisting in the creation of Neom-related projects.

In a statement released on Friday, Wazani emphasized the favorable consequences, convergence of viewpoints, and advancement towards the project’s goals, which are anticipated to assist Saudi Vision 2030 and the surrounding area, which includes Egypt and Jordan in the Neom initiative.

He spoke following a meeting at the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce Mohammed Al Sayer in Riyadh with a member of the board of directors and the chairman of the securities and investment committee.

Neom, which spans 460 km across the Red Sea’s banks and has a total area of 26,500 square meters, will present development opportunities.
