Oklahoma will host the US next tallest structure, not New York
According to the New York Post, the planning authority for Oklahoma City has given the real estate firm Matteson Capital permission to construct the highest skyscraper in the country.
This enormous structure, known as the “Legends Tower,” will rise higher than the 1,776-foot One World Trade Center in New York.
There are rumors that the building will have four towers: three of them would be about 345 feet high, while the fourth will be 1,907 feet long.
There are anticipated to be 1,750 units in the five million square foot complex. Two Hyatt hotels, a condominium, and 110,000 square feet of commercial and communal space are also planned for the structure.
The project also features restaurants, a bar, an observation deck on the upper stories, a lagoon, and a nearby promenade.
The project is expected to cost a total of $1.6 billion and take 24 to 30 months to complete.
The two towers of the structure will start to be constructed this summer.
“I’ll ask you the question that many people ask me every time this project comes up: ‘How are you intending to build a tower this tall in the wind, storms, and tornadoes we have in Oklahoma City?'” said Camal Pennington, chairman of the Planning Commission of Oklahoma, expressing his concerns about the location.
