PTI-affiliated independents lead surveys, and Bilawal supports a united government after Nawaz
Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, expressed support for a unity government on Saturday, citing independent candidates who had the support of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leading polls following the unofficial vote results that began to come in from all around the nation.
The 2024 election results compilation process has been going on for over 48 hours, and every minute, the positions of the various parties are shifting.
Speaking on a special Geo News broadcast for the 2024 election, Bilawal stated, “A government should be formed with national unity to bring political stability.” “I want to end the politics of hate and division,” she continued.
The politician said that the PPP is the only party represented in each of the four provinces following the results of the most recent polls.
“Final findings are still pending release. But Punjab, Balochistan, and the Center cannot form governments without the PPP.”
He expressed his gratitude to the nationals for their substantial voting turnout. The former foreign minister also expressed gratitude to PPP members and supporters for their faith in the party’s nominees and leadership on election day.
“I cannot indulge in the old style of politics, We want to bring political stability in our country.”
The PPP head stated that the party’s central executive committee (CEC) will decide on the future government following the declaration of the election’s final results.
“It is in the country’s interest to build political unity as it would be difficult to resolve public issues without addressing the core national issue of political instability.”
After Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and the former prime minister, was removed from office by a parliamentary vote in 2022, Bilawal’s party was a crucial ally of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM). However, Bilawal acknowledged that his party could not form the next government on its own without a simple majority.
“I am unable to make any announcements at this time. As the independent candidates supported by the previous ruling party were dominating the election results thus far, the politician stated, “The nation is also looking towards the decision of the independent candidates.”
Regarding the legitimacy of the national election, Bilawal declared that the most recent elections had not disappointed him.
But he took issue with the fact that, on February 8 at midnight, they were leading by a wide margin in Lahore, but that the next morning, everything had completely reversed.
In response to another query, the PPP chairman asked the parties to work together to create the province of Balochistan’s future government.
According to unofficial and unverified results, the Imran-led party’s independent candidates have been leading the polls thus far. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Bilawal-led party are ranked third and fourth, respectively, on the party position chart for the National Assembly (NA) seats.
According to reports PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif met with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and former president Asif Ali Zardari, encouraging them to collaborate for Pakistan. Following this meeting, the parties decided to establish a coalition government in the Centre and Punjab.
