Will Donald Trump be imprisoned? The Secret Service gets ready for that
The judge in Tuesday’s hush money trial is delaying her ruling, so the Secret Service has started planning for what to do if the 77-year-old is sent behind bars, according to ABC News. Former US President Donald Trump is facing this trial.
Assistant District Attorney Chris Conroy stated: “We are not yet seeking an incarceration penalty but the defendant seems to be angling for that.” The prosecution claims that they are now pursuing a fine.
According to the article, which cited sources, “Judge Juan Merchan would not put Donald Trump in a holding cell in the courthouse, but they are planning for contingencies.”
In March of last year, the former president Trump was accused on charges of fabricating financial documents in order to pay adult film star Stormy Daniels prior to the 2016 election.
Michael Cohen, the former president’s attorney, paid the payment.
The US Secret Service issued the following statement in an unrelated statement: “Under federal law, the US Secret Service must provide protection for current government leaders, former Presidents, and First Ladies, visiting heads of state, and other individuals designated by the President of the United States.” The statement made no mention of Trump’s circumstances.
