Oman Unveils Golden Visa to Attract Global Investors

MUSCAT — Oman has announced the launch of its new Golden Visa program, a major initiative aimed at attracting foreign investment and strengthening the country’s economy through regulatory reforms and digital transformation.

The program, introduced by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP), will offer renewable five and ten-year residency permits to eligible investors and their families. Beneficiaries include spouses, children under 25, and dependent parents — all without the need for local sponsorship.

Applicants can qualify through various investment avenues, such as real estate purchases, business ownership, or capital spending in key sectors like renewable energy, IT, tourism, and construction.

Alongside the visa, Oman is rolling out digital trade reforms, including a new electronic commercial registration transfer service through the “Oman Business” platform. Officials say these measures will simplify business processes, cut costs, and improve transparency across the investment landscape.

The initiative will be formally announced under the patronage of Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, and launched in collaboration with the Al Majida Companies Program, which supports high-performing Omani firms in expanding regionally and globally.

Mubarak bin Mohammed Al Douhani, Director-General of Planning at MOCIIP, emphasized that the Golden Visa reflects Oman’s commitment to building a stable, investor-friendly environment aligned with the country’s Vision 2040 goals. He noted that the program is expected to boost not only investment, but also tourism, education, and cultural exchange.

Oman’s move follows similar initiatives introduced by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as Gulf nations compete to attract foreign talent and capital to diversify their economies.
