Omar Ayub PTI Leaders Face Arrest Warrants in Court Case
Arrest Warrants Issued for Omar Ayub and Other PTI Leaders
SARGODHA – A court in Sargodha has issued arrest warrants for several top PTI leaders, including Opposition Leader Omar Ayub, Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar, former MNA Rana Bilal Ijaz, and MNA Mohammad Ahmed Chattha.
These warrants were issued after none of them showed up in court for final arguments in a case being heard at the Sargodha City police station. According to PTI’s lawyer, Jawad Mazhar Dhon, all witness statements have been recorded. The court has now postponed the hearing to the next day.
In a related development, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has allowed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to continue its investigation into alleged rigging in the NA-18 Haripur constituency. This seat was won by Omar Ayub.
The IHC’s Acting Chief Justice, Sardar Sarfraz Dogar, cancelled the previous stay order and directed the ECP to listen to both sides and make a fair decision under the law.
Earlier, Omar Ayub had challenged the ECP’s July 10 order to investigate rigging in NA-18. The stay order had been issued by former Chief Justice Aamir Farooq, and responses were sought from the ECP and election officials, including Babar Nawaz Khan.
