Online outcry has been generated by Kim Kardashian’s shroud-like Christmas present wrapping
Kim Kardashian, a reality TV star, is in the center of a fresh controversy after posting videos to Instagram of her wrapping Christmas presents.
Kardashian, 43, highlighted the reusability of her gifts by sharing on Instagram that they were wrapped in cotton jersey T-shirts from her brand SKIMS. Social media users, however, soon drew attention to the packaging’s resemblance to Muslim burial shrouds.

Commenters criticized Kardashian’s decision, arguing that, given the ongoing violence and killings in Palestine, she was being culturally insensitive.

Some questioned whether the choice to wrap in a manner typical of Muslim funeral customs was made on purpose to injure and irritate Palestinians while capitalizing on the fury of their supporters.
kim kardashian has based her empire on being on the wrong side, mocking oppressed people and then monetizing that rage. She’s intentionally mocking victims of the genocide & going against BDS publicly to profit from that outrage. The gift wrapping is so tone deaf. pic.twitter.com/gxIetbXoi0

Some emphasized the alleged intentionality of the wrapping decision, citing earlier incidents like her kids’ zombie Halloween outfits that looked like wounded Gaza kids.
first the zombie football jerseys to mock little palestinian injured kids and now wrapping her christmas gifts in a a white cloth to mock dead palestinians. @KimKardashian has constantly proven that she’s inhumane. this is not a mere coincidence. Cancel her. pic.twitter.com/szNoAN5Fqi

Following the attack on October 7, Kardashian declared her support for Israel. At the time, she made a long statement stating her support for Israel, and she hasn’t brought up the subject again.
Fashion company Zara released an ad earlier this month that featured model Kristen McMenamy carrying a mannequin covered in white fabric that looked like the veiled corpses of people killed by Israel during its indiscriminate attack on Gaza. Behind a backdrop of debris, other mannequins showed missing limbs. Additionally, the image’s background contained bits of plasterboard that resembled an inverted map of Palestine
