Orangi Town UC-1 Recount Muhammad Ali Wins Shahnila Amir Loses
Orangi Town UC-1 Chairperson Seat Flips After Recount; PPP’s Shahnila Amir Loses Lead
Karachi – A dramatic twist unfolded in Orangi Town’s UC-1 chairperson race after a recount overturned the initial results. Earlier on Wednesday, Shahnila Amir of the PPP had been declared the winner with 3,801 votes, defeating Muhammad Ali of the TLP, who had secured 1,787 votes.
However, the recount conducted by the Returning Officer revealed a major discrepancy. Shahnila Amir’s actual vote count was found to be only 1,600 — less than half of the originally announced figure. Meanwhile, Muhammad Ali maintained his tally of 1,787 votes, emerging as the official winner according to the updated Form-14.
The recount covered 12 polling stations, seven requested by the TLP and five by the PPP. The sharp reversal in results has intensified concerns over the accuracy and transparency of the electoral process.
Sindh Cabinet Reshuffle on the Horizon
In other political developments, reports suggest that Sindh’s Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani is likely to lose his current post as the provincial government plans a major cabinet reshuffle.
Sources say the Local Government Department will be transferred to Nasir Hussain Shah, while Saeed Ghani will take over as Minister for Labour and Social Protection. Additionally, Labour Minister Shahid Thaheem is set to be removed, and Ismail Rahu will join the cabinet as Provincial Minister for Universities and Boards. Jam Khan Shoro will receive the added responsibility of the Planning and Development Department, and Sham Sundar is expected to be appointed as Special Assistant.
The changes signal a significant reorganization of key portfolios ahead of upcoming administrative priorities in Sindh.
