Pakistan Uzbekistan Expand Tech Ties Pak-Iran JEC Ends in Tehran

Pakistan, Uzbekistan Boost Industrial and Tech Ties; Pak-Iran JEC Concludes in Tehran

Tashkent – Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, visited the Pharma Park and Techno Park in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to strengthen industrial and technological cooperation between the two countries.

During the visit, Mr. Khan praised the production of modern household and electronic appliances at the Uzbek Techno Park, calling it “highly commendable.” He suggested that joint manufacturing of solar water heaters could provide affordable energy solutions for both nations, while also opening opportunities in the renewable energy sector.

Talks also focused on joint production of modern gas and electricity meters to deepen collaboration in the energy and technology fields.

On the pharmaceutical side, Mr. Khan stressed the importance of streamlining licensing and certification processes for Pakistan’s pharma products in Uzbekistan. He said enhancing the industry’s capacity would boost exports and align Pakistan with international standards.

“By fostering collaboration in technology and industry, Pakistan and Uzbekistan can take their bilateral relations to new heights,” Mr. Khan remarked.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, the 22nd Session of the Pakistan-Iran Joint Economic Commission (JEC) concluded in Tehran on September 15-16, 2025. The session marked a significant step forward in economic, trade, and cultural cooperation between the two neighbors.

The Pakistani side was led by Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, while the Iranian delegation was headed by Roads and Urban Development Minister Farzaneh Sadeq. Both ministers signed protocols aimed at expanding collaboration in trade, investment, energy, agriculture, transport, housing, health, education, and culture.

Technical sessions were chaired by Muhammad Humair Karim, Secretary of Pakistan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Dr. Amin Taraffo, Senior Advisor to Iran’s Roads and Urban Development Minister. The discussions successfully finalized the draft protocol, reaffirming the commitment of both sides to deepen bilateral cooperation.
