Pakistan Continues Repatriation of Afghan Card Holders
ISLAMABAD – The government of Pakistan has decided to continue the return process of Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) holders due to rising national security concerns and pressure on public resources.
This decision was made during a high-level meeting held by the Ministry. A formal plan called the Inter-Ministerial Return Facilitation Plan (IFRP) will guide the process.
Foreign Ministry to Lead Coordination
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will work with international partners like the Afghan Interim Government and the UNHCR to ensure the return of Afghans is smooth and respectful.
Help from Other Ministries and Agencies
The Ministry of Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan, and SAFRON will share data of Proof of Registration (POR) cardholders with district and provincial committees.
NADRA will manage the cancellation of records at border crossings.
The FIA will help with the repatriation process at official borders. Provincial governments will make detailed action plans and send them to the Ministry of Interior.
Support for Returnees
The plan includes:
Identifying safe transit areas
Arranging transport
Giving financial aid to those returning
Committees at the district and provincial levels will monitor the process. Control rooms will also be reopened for real-time updates.
Hotline and Grievance Cell
A helpline and complaint center will be set up to help returnees. Daily progress will be tracked through the Foreign National Security Dashboard (FNSD).
All departments have been asked to update the contact details of their main officers. A Section Officer for Security has been chosen to lead the coordination work.
