Army chief of staff criticizes politically motivated effort to distort May 9 events
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the top military commanders pledged on Tuesday that anyone who plans to attack military installations on May 9, 2023, or who aids and abets in the destruction of martyrs’ monuments will undoubtedly face legal consequences in accordance with applicable laws and the Constitution.
According to the statement, “malicious attempts to sow confusion, distortions, and disinformation are completely pointless and merely a component of a coordinated campaign being launched for limited political interests, to obscure the heinous activities that occurred.”
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, presided over the Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC), which was held at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, when the ISPR statement was made.
The forum called on the proud people of Pakistan to stay upbeat, united, and fully engage in the advancement and development of their nation, noting with concern the organized misinformation and fake news being disseminated by certain evil elements to sow despair and divisions within the society.
The attendees reaffirmed that the Pakistan Army will keep up its defense and support of the country in all manners as it moves toward long-term security, prosperity, and stability.
The forum stated that the Pakistani military forces were in grave danger of failing to fulfill their primary duty, that they were just providing a secure environment for the general election of 2024 in accordance with their mandate, and that they were unrelated to the electoral process.
The forum did, however, express dismay at the vile accusations of involvement made by certain vested tiny sectors of the media, particularly on social media, which have been used to defame the armed forces.
The statement went on, “It’s unfortunate that such vested elements’ entire focus is on creating political instability and uncertainty by attempting to scapegoat others for their own failings, rather than on real issues like good governance, economic recovery, political stability, and public wellbeing.”
The conference emphasized the need to pursue the proper legal procedures with facts and proof, as opposed to using emotional outbursts and unconstitutional, unjustified political rhetoric.
It expressed joy at the peaceful handover of democratic authority in the provinces and the national center. The conference believed that Pakistani citizens would live in peace and prosperity as the anticipated political and economic stability would be established in the aftermath of the election.
The conference stated that it firmly felt that the country’s future lay in consolidating democracy.
It reaffirmed that the military leadership is aware of the whole range of risks and difficulties and is dedicated to carrying out its constitutionally mandated duties with the help of Pakistan’s resilient populace.
The forum reaffirmed its commitment to support the government in its efforts to counter security threats, promote socioeconomic growth in the nation, and assist in ending all illegal activities, such as hoarding, smuggling, and electricity theft, as well as the implementation of a one-document regime and the dignified and secure repatriation of all illegal foreign nationals.
The men and officers of the armed forces, members of law enforcement, and civilians who have given their lives to maintain peace and stability in the nation were all honored by the military leadership for their tremendous sacrifices.
The forum decided to use all the might of the state against terrorists, as well as those who aid and abet them in their efforts to destabilize Pakistan at the request of enemy forces.
The head of the army gave orders to commanders to keep building on the successes of the campaign against militancy and terrorism. The conference denounced India’s unrelenting abuses of human rights and voiced worries over the ongoing oppression of Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The forum reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Kashmiris on all fronts—politically, diplomatically, and morally.
The conference also declared its unwavering support for the Palestinian people and denounced the grave breaches of human rights and war crimes occurring in Gaza.
“We will continue to support our brethren’s principled stance for an enduring resolution of the Palestinian issue,” the COAS stated. “The Palestinian people have unequivocal diplomatic, moral, and political support of the Pakistani nation.”
In light of the Election Commission of Pakistan’s guidelines for creating a safe and secure environment for the electoral process, the forum appreciated the efforts made by civil administration, law enforcement agencies, and security forces to provide all-out assistance during the general elections, despite overwhelming odds.
The army chief emphasized to the field commanders the need to uphold the highest levels of professionalism, operational readiness, and drive while conducting operations, as well as to attain perfection in formation training.
