Fawad Khan on working less with Mahira Khan
Unless you are a fan of Fawad Khan, it is too early to forecast 2024’s course nearly two weeks into the new year. Fans of the celebrity may anticipate seeing more of him, from upcoming albums and artistic endeavors to a single, frank two-part interview that went viral online.
Excited to discuss his personal and public life, Fawad sat down for an over two-hour podcast session with actor-host and longtime friend Ahmad Ali Butt, creating a new wave of enthusiasm. The discussion was enlivened by Fawad’s trip down memory lane, which included memories of his time as the lead vocalist for the rock group EP.
In the interview’s first portion, the star had shared a consensus with Butt, a former member of EP, on the stunning creation of their song Aur Shor Macha. “Its final mix could have been improved to accentuate it but it is an elaborate song,” Fawad said, giving the music even more praise.
The 2008 drama series of the same name featured an OST called Satrangi, which was written and performed by Fawad. It was another song that the star praised heartily. He remarked, “I get shocked that’s a song that I made completely by myself in one week…and I recorded the vocals too.”
But Fawad’s true claim to fame stems from the positive reviews his 2011 drama series Humsafar received. A primary draw of the romantic drama series was his on-screen chemistry with Mahira Khan, which catapulted him to international popularity. Following years of fans’ dreams of a reunion, the two co-starred in the 2022 movie The Legend of Maula Jatt.
While Fawad and Mahira are poised to collaborate once more on the forthcoming Pakistani film Neelofar, Butt raised the topic that has been on everyone’s mind: Do the on-screen couple purposefully limit their endeavors together to prevent going overboard? That is, in Fawad’s opinion, a component of the mental process. “Yes, this is taken into consideration; otherwise, the novelty of it is lost.”
But the main reason the two celebrities don’t spend as much time together on film is to make sure their friendship off screen doesn’t affect their working relationship. “The more you work with people you grow close to, the more complicated your relationship gets,” Fawad argued. Keep friendships and business apart. He explained his thinking, stating that he tries to be watchful yet is not opposed to collaboration.
Giving his pal even more credit, Fawad praised Mahira’s work ethic. “She is an apparatus. She is always on the go.He added, “And she has the patience to stick with it. In contrast, if forced to work long hours, the Khoobsurat star compared himself to “a disgruntled child.” Fawad said, “I start getting annoyed.”
Diabetes is an issue.”I believe you should take into account your physical limitations,” he said, delving into how to strike a balance between his health issues and his job. “I can’t be going above and beyond every single night.and there is such a thing as diabetic anger,” he said, alluding to his mood swings in their shared understanding while Butt chimed in, “Let’s not go there.”
In response to the excitement surrounding the 2022 miniseries Ms. Marvel, Fawad discussed his experience bringing Hasan, Kamala’s great-grandfather, to life on screen and how he proposed a few alterations to his part. The celebrity described a statement that was originally written for Hasan in which the character quotes Iqbal and Gandhi. Fawad recalled his comments, saying, “I said I find it a little difficult that you’re giving both references in the same speech because then the character is left neither here nor there.”
“You have to lean toward one person, just like in Dastaan,” he continued. Families were split apart by partition, and friendships occasionally turned into hostilities. You would either lean Congress or Muslim League in Dastaan. I thus requested that the [Miss Marvel authors] clarify that one item.
Despite playing a small part, Fawad’s casting as part of Ms. Marvel increased the show’s attractiveness to many viewers. According to the guy himself, his role as a protagonist in an episode honoring the 1947 partition continues to have a significant impact on the show. “The way the Holocaust is recurrently shown in cinema…this [Partition] is a story that is worth telling and it can be told in 10,000 ways,” Fawad emphasized, highlighting the need of remembering the division. There are so many stories attached to the partition, even in this room. Whoever you ask will have a different story.”
Butt urged Fawad to recommend a different professional path for Mahira during a Q&A session. The latter responded by referring to the Razia actor as a “Marilyn Monroe” and saying that acting was her destiny. She exudes a particular charisma that makes others remark she was made for…Mahira has a Marilyn Monroe-esque charm, but I realize that’s a somewhat narrow comparison. She enchants everyone.
Later in the interview, Fawad referred to Faris Shafi as his current favorite musician, calling him the “voice of hip-hop,” and he named Sanam Saeed “a gifted actor” and “a controlled performer.”
While fans eagerly await the release of the actor’s next feature, Neelofar, Fawad—who also serves as the film’s co-producer—teasingly hinted at a December release this year. Putting himself in the producer’s shoes for the first time, the actor said, “I get excited about production, but not so much about action. It is stressful and will undoubtedly shorten your life by ten years. However, the enjoyment derived from managing an entire universe is crucial.
His evaluation of Money Back Guarantee, the 2023 comedic picture starring Fawad in the lead role, also took into account this new experience. “I just wanted to play Bux,” he said when describing his motivation for working on the poorly reviewed movie.
“The strategy is sound. The issue lies in Pakistan’s lack of soundstages. He argued that you need a soundstage to make pictures that are enjoyable, daring, and truly have effective shot schedules.
