Naqvi Orders Crackdown on Hawala Fake Drugs & Beggar Agents

During a meeting, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi gave strong orders to take action against people involved in illegal money transfer (hawala-hundi) and other criminal groups working in the area.

Additional Director General FIA South, Mujahid Akbar, and other officers were present at the meeting. FIA Karachi Director Nauman Siddiq updated the minister about their work, problems they face, and the operations they are running.

Mohsin Naqvi said that the main people running illegal money transfers must be targeted. He told FIA officers to take fair and firm action, without any outside pressure. All criminal groups must be punished according to the law.

He also ordered action against agents who send beggars abroad. He said these agents are harming Pakistan’s image in other countries. He told the FIA to arrest beggars who have been sent back (deported) from other countries, and to find the agents who are hiding, with the help of other provinces.

The minister also gave tough orders against people selling fake medicines and said they must be punished strictly.

Mohsin Naqvi also told authorities to take action against people bringing in non-duty-paid items. He said that travelers carrying more than 5,000 US dollars out of the country without telling customs should be dealt with strongly.

Over 5,000 Beggars Deported from Abroad

In May 2025, the Ministry of Interior told the National Assembly (NA) that 5,402 Pakistani beggars had been deported from foreign countries since 2024.

Most of them were sent back from:

Saudi Arabia: 4,498 in 2024, and 535 in 2025

Iraq: 242 in 2024, and 5 in 2025

Malaysia: 55

UAE: 49 in 2024, and 9 in 2025

Qatar and Oman: Some beggars were also deported from here

The government plans to arrest these deported beggars and take action against the agents involved in sending them abroad.
