Pakistan Players Slip in ICC Rankings After Asia Cup 2025 Loss to India
Pakistan’s cricket stars have seen a dip in the latest ICC rankings following their heavy defeat against arch-rivals India in the high-octane Asia Cup 2025 clash.
In the batting charts, former captain Babar Azam remains Pakistan’s top-ranked batter, but he has dropped two places to 26th with 580 rating points. Mohammad Rizwan, who is also currently out of the squad, is the country’s second-highest batter at 33rd.
Saim Ayub, who endured back-to-back ducks in the Asia Cup, fell five spots to 46th, while Hasan Nawaz slipped to 47th. Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha dropped 10 places to 67th, and senior batter Fakhar Zaman edged down one spot to 69th.
The only batter to register gains was Sahibzada Farhan, who scored 40 off 44 balls against India, climbing 18 places to 56th.
On the bowling side, spinners Sufiyan Muqeem and Abrar Ahmed made notable progress, rising to 11th and 16th spots, respectively.
Pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi slipped five places to 27th, while all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz fell to 33rd. Fast bowler Haris Rauf, who has yet to feature in the Asia Cup, dropped two spots to 37th.
In the all-rounder rankings, Saim Ayub made a strong showing, jumping four places to 6th after taking five wickets in the tournament so far. He was Pakistan’s only wicket-taker against India, finishing with figures of 3-35.
