“Imran Khan consents to hold talks on government formation with the PPP”
Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has consented to hold discussions with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) over the formation of a coalition government in the center, according to party sources. This is a significant political step.
Talks with the PPP are possible now that Khan is behind bars, according to party sources.
According to the sources, “the ties between the two political parties will be taken forward,” and a committee would be established to facilitate discussions between PTI and PPP regarding the formation of a government.
The PTI is moving quickly to form a government in the Center after its independent candidates garnered the most seats in the National Assembly in the elections held on February 8.
In addition, the PTI intends to engage with opposition nationalist parties protesting alleged electoral manipulation, including Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, the Awami National Party, Jamaat-e-Islami, and others.
This happened two days after Asif Ali Zardari, the co-chairman of the PPP, stated that he would be open to speaking with the PTI in order to forward the nation’s process of reconciliation.
We desired that all political forces, not just the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, be involved in the reconciliation process. Accordingly, we felt that the PTI should have been engaged in the reconciliation process.
At a joint press conference with the six-party alliance on Tuesday, he had declared, “We want to go together with economic, defense agenda and other similar things and make Mian Sahib and other friends successful so that we can make Pakistan and its people successful.”
