Latif Khosa and Salman Akram Raja, two PTI leaders, were arrested in Lahore

Leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Latif Khosa and Salman Akram Raja, were taken into custody by Punjab Police on Sunday during the party’s protests in Lahore, according to Express News.

Balakh Sher Khosa, the son of Latif Khosa, confirmed his father’s imprisonment and voiced worry over the situation.

“We have learned that Sardar Latif Khosa has been placed under arrest, which is an absolutely abhorrent and unacceptable action,” party head Sher Afzal Marwat said on his official X Twitter.

Marwat said that peaceful protest was their fundamental right and begged the Punjabi authorities to stop what he called their “unfair behaviour.”

Police also apprehended another well-known PTI leader, Salman Akram Raja. Among those detained with Raja was advocate Muhammad Mehr Salim.

In the meanwhile, PTI workers and supporters organized protests and rallies around the nation; events were reported in Rawalpindi, Karachi, Kandhkot, Tank, and other cities.

Media sources state that in order to keep the peace in Lahore, the police heavily patrolled Mall Road and its environs. As a consequence, some PTI employees from GPO Chowk were taken into custody.

Preparations for the protests were also prepared in Karachi, where police and Sindh Rangers had positioned themselves outside the office of the Korangi Deputy Commissioner.

When PTI protestors were refused access into Rawalpindi via the Khanna Pul route, tensions erupted and they engaged in physical altercations the police. After being detained, a number of party workers were eventually freed.

PTI supporters in Tank demonstrated their dissatisfaction by marching from Sabir Bazaar to the Town Hall grounds.

A number of other cities saw protests as well, including Faisalabad, Vehari, Khushab, Islamabad, Multan, Gujranwala, and others, showing how angry PTI supporters were over the purported voting irregularities.

The arrests of Latif Khosa, Salman Akram Raja, and other others have been fiercely denounced by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), in the meanwhile.

In order to discuss the future steps, the SCBA has also agreed to call an urgent meeting of its executive body.
