Multiple Train Services Delayed as Pakistan Railways Steps Up Passenger Safety

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Railways has suspended three major train services, including the Karakoram Express, Shah Hussain Express, and Khushhal Khan Khattak Express. Passengers affected by these cancellations are being accommodated on the Business Express, officials said.

In addition to the suspensions, several other trains are running behind schedule. The Pakistan Express, originally set to depart for Rawalpindi at 2:00 pm, will now leave at 3:45 pm. The Allama Iqbal Express to Sialkot faces a delay of nearly three hours, departing at 6:15 pm instead of its scheduled time. Meanwhile, the Tezgam train to Rawalpindi will depart at 7:30 pm, two hours later than planned. Railway authorities assured passengers that alternative arrangements are being made for those affected.

In a separate initiative, Pakistan Railways announced plans to enhance passenger facilities and safety measures. During a meeting chaired by Railways Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi at the Ministry of Railways, special focus was placed on the welfare of women and differently-abled passengers.

The Minister said gender-responsive protocols would be introduced across stations and trains to ensure a safe, dignified, and peaceful travel environment for women. Measures include awareness posters in stations and trains, regular announcements, gender-sensitization training for railway staff, and a comprehensive safety awareness campaign for women travelers.
